RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks associated with the efficient set up and on-going operation of an elevator manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for specifying and developing operational sequence and manufacturing methods, and must be able to provide technical support for all manufacturing functions. The ideal candidate will have an electrical engineering or electrical testing background, and have the ability to develop and improve electrical test procedures and equipment, aid techs in troubleshooting units under test, and update testing methods for product changes.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Provides technical support for plant layout, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, feasibility studies.

  • Identifies areas for improvement in processing efficiencies, capacity, energy, safety and environmental systems.

  • Ensures manufacturing processes, engineering projects, production yields, new product introductions and cost reduction programs are in conformance with company objectives.

  • Performs manufacturing engineering functions including the following:

  • Development and documentation of standard work

  • Time studies

  • Line balancing

  • BOM generation

  • Creation of routers

  • Product & tooling cost estimates

  • Capital planning

  • PLC Development and Management

  • Run Test Development and Management

  • Drives safety in all manufacturing and operations processes

Qualification:

  • Manufacturing/Industrial support experience

  • Microsoft Office (intermediate level Excel and Powerpoint skills)

  • Shop level experience a plus

  • Strong written & oral communication skills

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to facilitate change

  • Understanding of lean principles and value stream mapping

  • Ability to develop and improve electrical test procedures and equipment, aid techs in troubleshooting units under test, and update testing methods for product changes

  • Elevator controls experience a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, BE Electrical Engineering degree required

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 to 5 years experience or

  • Master's degree with 0 to 2 years experience
