Role Summary:

The Operations Systems and Lean Leader will have the experience and expertise to solve problems and develop and execute objectives for Service Teams and business processes. In this role, the Operations Systems and Lean Leader will affect short-term and long-term business goals as directed by Service and Business Leaders.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to empower others to execute the Lean Six Sigma strategy for process improvement

  • Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability, producibility of designs and business processes to reduce defects and attain world-class levels of service quality and standard work methods through demonstration of the Lean Six Sigma philosophy, theory, and application of tools, approaches, and Best Practices

  • Facilitate, train, and coach team members in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools

  • Work with Service Leaders, Business Leaders, and Field Service Teams to uncover and assess Lean Six Sigma opportunities for GE and its suppliers

  • In conjunction with the Master Black Belts and Quality Teams, serve as a change agent in institutionalizing Lean Six Sigma practices and quality

  • Constantly seek, share, and implement Best Practices

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects

  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams; Facilitate AWO events and follow-up of action items

  • Communicate progress to Business Leaders, Service Leaders, and Master Black Belts

  • Identify potential process improvement projects

  • Execute SET Assessments across GSO accounts and act on identified shortcomings


  • 5+ years of experience in locomotive manufacturing and/or service operations

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; statistically literate and familiar with Lean Six Sigma quality concepts and tools

  • Passion for process improvement and application of Lean Six Sigma philosophies

  • Good knowledge of GE Transportation organizational structure and main functional groups

  • Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities

  • Strong process change and process creation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results

  • Ability to operate independently and drive change

  • Fluent English – written and verbal communications
