Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Intermediate Inspector for immediate employment in the Columbia, SC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor conformance to quality, performance, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

  • Performs daily field inspections

  • Maintains inspection records

  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning

  • Tracks quality assurance progress

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnover

  • Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications

  • Observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship

  • Reviews contract plans and specifications for compliance with appropriate building codes and project requirements

  • Observation of work for compliance with contract documents

  • Reviewing and responding to shop drawing submittals

  • Responding to request for information, clarifications, proposals, and change orders

  • Assisting with review and reconciliation of construction schedules

  • Scheduling updates and contractor payments

  • Observe testing and review test results for conformance with technical specifications

  • Confirming quantities for pay applications

  • Assisting with verification of project completion milestones and contract closeout/commissioning

  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Works under general supervision

  • May assist with training entry level employees

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 5+ years inspection experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD Experience is a plus

  • Experience drafting civil design projects such as water or sewer lines utilizing AutoCAD

  • OSHA training

  • Experience with Health and Safety plans

  • Construction experience
