Schneider Electric is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Test / Automation Engineer for wiring process improvement, throughout the Engineered To Order (ETO) manufacturing facilities of North America. This is an exciting role that will offer much opportunity to grow and learn in a highly technical field. This individual will be tasked with multiple assignments within the region. Primary location and project focus will be given to Columbia, South Carolina. These assignments will include:
Serve as wiring methods expert for the improvement and/or automation of existing manual wiring methods.
Utilize advanced smart factory technologies such as Augmented Reality (Hololens, Google Glasses, etc.) to improve efficiency of existing manual wiring methods.
Continuous improvement of industrial processes used in the production and testing of Schneider Electric products.
Application of other advanced manufacturing tools such as collaborative robotics (COBOT) and automated guided vehicles (AGV) for process improvement.
Provide direct troubleshooting support and training for local plant resources.
Candidate can expect travel throughout the country at 30% levels with some projects requiring slightly heavier percentages.
Candidates should possess a minimum of the following:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or comparable degree / experience combination
Proven experience in the improvement / automation / operator augmentation of manual wiring methods in an Engineered To Order (ETO) environment.
5 to 10 years of experience with industrial electrical control systems.
5 to 10 years of specific experience with industrial mechanization and automation.
Specific experience with PLC systems and software. Modicon / Telemechanique experience is a bonus.
Hands-on industrial controls experience (hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, etc.)
Advanced PC skills (i.e. hardware modification / replacement).
Legacy PC experience (Linux, Windows, DOS, etc.)
Excellent English writing / speaking skills.
Strong self-motivation to learn with minimal direction or formal training.
